learn more about the fishing at Reelfoot Lake.

When scouting for fishing hotspots in lakes, look for places where the bottom
changes from mud or sand to cypress stumps or lily pads. They provide a better
location for crustaceans, water insects, and batifish, and nearby game fish
will assemble there. If you’re fishing a slough, or lake, the first thing to look
for  is around the 6-18 foot range. these are the best places to find fish holding
during the day. Use small baits such as minnows and wax worms, and variations
of small jigs to trigger strikes. you can start looking into shallow flats drop offs
and prepare for the late afternoon bite. crappie move up shallow to feed usually
during mid-afternoon, until around dusk. Normally when it gets near dark the
shallows clear and the fish move out to deeper waters. Look for large lily pads
as they provide more shade. The females feed around the roots of the cypress
stumps.  fishing near the cypress trees late in the afternoon brings good results.
The warm weather put the crappie into spawn so now is the time the  bluegill are
bedding. 3 foot water areas draw bedding bream. again around the lily  pads,
mainly ones with weeds. Bluegill will be found in weeds as long as they  are not dense.
